Pools in Washington City

Washington City has been one of the fastest-growing cities in Utah for twenty years, and most of its pools are newer than St. George's: 2005–2024 builds in Coral Canyon, Green Springs, Sienna Hills and the Washington Fields area south of the river. That means variable-speed pumps, automation panels and salt systems are common, and so are the problems specific to them: drive faults, lost schedules after power blips, and salt cells scaled up by the same hard water as everywhere else in the county.

A lot of these homes were built with a pool and spa combo and a gas heater that fires every evening in spring and fall. Washington Fields is open ground with farm fields and wind, and pools there collect dust and debris faster than pools tucked into the Coral Canyon hills. The newer subdivisions also have a high share of second homes and vacation rentals, where nobody notices a dead pump until the guests do.

Same climate as St. George: 100°-plus summers, water over 85°, freezing nights in midwinter, and very hard municipal water.

What I see here

Common calls from Washington City

Coral Canyon: variable-speed pump showing a drive errorOverheated drive on a sun-baked pad, or a communication fault with the automation panel. Often repairable; sometimes a drive replacement.
Green Springs: heater error after the pump drops to low speedVS pump running below the heater's minimum flow at night. A programming fix, not a part.
Washington Fields: pump ran dry, now leaksBasket packed with field dust overnight, pump cavitated, shaft seal failed. Seal and a leak check, plus a talk about basket checks in wind season.
Sienna Hills: salt cell under warranty age but reading Check CellCalcium scale on the plates. A proper acid clean and a chemistry fix usually brings it back.
Vacation rental: guest says the pool is greenChlorine burned off between turnovers. Shock, filter clean and a chemistry reset, then a weekly schedule so it doesn't happen again.
New build: pool lost water after plaster cureSometimes a loose return fitting or a light conduit, sometimes just evaporation on a fresh pool. I'll measure before guessing.

How I work

One call, one person

I'm RJ. You call (435) 703-5170, I answer or text you back, I come out, I diagnose it with amps, pressure and flow instead of a guess, and I quote repair and replace side by side. Then I do the work. No dispatcher, no stranger in a different truck next time.

If a $40 capacitor fixes it, that's the quote. If it's time for a new motor, you'll see the readings that say so.

  1. Call or text a photo
The pad, the gauge, or the heater display. I'll usually tell you what it likely is before I drive out.
  2. Diagnosis with readings
Motor amps, filter PSI, flow, and a full water test including calcium.
  3. Straight quote
Repair versus replace, real numbers, before anything gets touched.
  4. Fix it, check the rest
I look over the whole pad so you don't need me back next month.

FAQ

Questions from Washington City pool owners

Which parts of Washington City do you cover?

All of it: Coral Canyon, Green Springs, Sienna Hills, Washington Fields, Brio, Long Valley, and the older neighborhoods near Telegraph Street and the historic downtown.

My equipment is only five years old. Why is it failing?

Age isn't the issue here; conditions are. A pad on the south side of a Coral Canyon house sees 120° surface temperatures, and our water scales a salt cell or heater exchanger within a couple of seasons if chemistry drifts. Newer gear also has more electronics to cook.

Can you program my variable-speed pump and automation?

Yes. Most VS pumps I see are still on the factory schedule, running too fast for too long. I set speeds and run times for your pool's turnover and your heater's minimum flow.

Do you handle rental pools between guests?

Yes. Weekly service and a text if something at the pad needs attention before the next check-in. For a dead pump during a booking, call and tell me there are guests; I'll do what I can to move it up.

Is Washington City water as hard as St. George's?

It comes from the same regional sources and tests just as hard. Calcium hardness management is part of every cleaning visit I do here.
