Pool repair in St. George by the guy who answers the phone.

I'm RJ. I run RJ's Pool Service, and I do the work myself: pump and motor repair, filters, heaters, leaks, salt systems, and weekly cleaning. No dispatcher, no crew you've never met.

  • Pump, filter and heater repair — the jobs most cleaning routes won't touch
  • Straight diagnosis first. I tell you what failed and why before anything gets replaced
  • Built for Washington County water: hard, hot, dusty and 2,800 feet up
RJ's Pool Service badge: red-rock mesa, palms and a backyard pool

Texting a photo of your equipment pad or the error on the heater display is the fastest way to get an answer. If I'm elbow-deep in a pump, I'll reply between jobs.

Services

Repair first. Cleaning done right.

Most pool companies here are cleaning routes that sub out repairs. I'd rather be the one you call when the pad goes quiet.

Pump & filter repair

Motors, seals, capacitors, variable-speed swaps, cartridge and DE filter rebuilds, high-pressure problems.

Pump & filter →

Heater repair

Gas heaters and heat pumps that won't ignite, short-cycle, throw error codes, or never reach temperature.

Weekly cleaning

Chemistry balanced for our hard water, brushing, baskets, filter pressure logged, and I look at the equipment every visit.

Symptoms

What your pool is telling you

These are the calls I get most. If yours is on the list, I've probably fixed it this month.

Pump hums, won't start, trips the breakerStart capacitor, seized bearings, or a motor that's drawing locked-rotor amps. Stop resetting the breaker and call.
Pump runs but water barely movesClogged impeller, air leak on the suction side, a filter at 30+ PSI, or a skimmer weir stuck shut.
Filter gauge climbing fast, backwashing every few daysCalcium-caked cartridge or DE grids, or a torn grid dumping DE back into the pool. Our water scales filters quickly.
Heater clicks, fires, then shuts downFlow switch, pressure switch, dirty burner tray, or a failed ignitor. The error code on the display narrows it down.
Losing an inch or more of water a dayJuly evaporation in St. George runs about a quarter inch a day. More than that, it's a leak: usually a pump seal, a cracked skimmer, or a light niche.
Salt system says Low Salt or Check CellOften a scaled-up cell from our calcium, not low salt at all. Sometimes a failed flow sensor or cell past its 10,000 hours.
Water turned green over a hot weekendChlorine burned off in the sun and heat. Needs a real shock, filter cleaning and a chemistry reset, not a bottle of clarifier.
Equipment pad drips, pump housing wet underneathShaft seal or a cracked housing. A seal is a cheap fix if you catch it before water gets into the motor.

Why owner-operated

One person, start to finish

When you call (435) 703-5170, you get me. I diagnose it, I quote it, I fix it, and I'm the one standing at your pad when you have a question six months later.

If your fifteen-year-old pump needs a $40 capacitor, that's what I'll put in. If it needs a new motor, I'll show you the readings that say so.

I work on pools in Washington County every day, so I know the local problems: calcium hardness that scales salt cells and heater exchangers, red dust that packs filters, monsoon wind that fills skimmers overnight, and summer pad temperatures that shorten the life of every capacitor and control board out there.

How I handle a repair call

  1. You call or text
Send a photo of the pad or the error code if you can. I'll usually tell you what it probably is before I come out.
  2. I diagnose at the pad
Amps and voltage on the motor, PSI on the filter, flow, water chemistry, and a look at every union and valve. You get the actual readings.
  3. You get a straight quote
Repair versus replace, with real numbers, before I touch anything. No surprise line items.
  4. I fix it and check the whole pad
While I'm there, I look over everything else so you don't get a second call-out next month.

FAQ

Questions I get on the first call

Do you do repairs, or just cleaning?

Both, and repair is the part of the job I like most. Pumps, motors, filters, heaters, salt cells, valves, lights, leaks and plumbing on the equipment pad. If something on your pad has stopped doing its job, that's a call I want.

Can I text you a photo instead of describing it?

Please do. A photo of the equipment pad, the filter gauge, or the error code on the heater tells me more than ten minutes on the phone. Text (435) 703-5170.

Why is my pump loud, or humming and not starting?

A grinding or screaming motor is almost always bearings. A hum with no spin is usually a failed start capacitor or a seized shaft. Either way, don't keep flipping the breaker: a motor that's trying and failing to start cooks its windings. I'll tell you on the phone whether it sounds like a capacitor, a bearing job, or time for a new motor.

Will you replace my old single-speed pump with a variable-speed?

If that's the right call for your pool, yes. Variable-speed pumps run slower for longer, use a fraction of the power at low RPM, and run quietly. I'll give you both options with real numbers, and I'll tell you if your existing pump just needs a seal and a capacitor instead.

How fast can you come out?

Call and I'll tell you. A pool with a dead pump in July can't sit for a week in this heat, so I prioritize down pools. Non-urgent repairs and cleanings get scheduled around the route.

Which towns do you cover?

St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Santa Clara and Ivins, plus the neighborhoods in between: Bloomington, SunRiver, Little Valley, Coral Canyon, Sand Hollow and Dixie Springs. If you're a little outside that, ask.
